First and foremost, sorry for not posting anything for so long. I know my millions of fans have been dying to hear more about my ever so interesting life. Jokes!
I’ve officially put on my big girl pants and moved out of the house. My mother was WAAAAY too excited to have my room. She was basically throwing my things into the back of the truck on moving day. Not going to lie, I was too. As much as I love my family, I was ready to move out of the house. Hearing about Justin Bieber and being scolded for running around naked was really getting old :) (I’m kidding about the being naked part…mostly kidding at least. Love you mom)
Being that I’m not in the dorms this year, I’ve had to encounter the new experience of cooking for myself. I’ll give myself a little credit and say that I do know how to cook but I will also go ahead and say that I’m lazy and would rather have the sixteen year old at Taco Bell do it for me. Thankfully the closest one is a couple miles away which forces me to cook for myself. The first few days were fun. I enjoy cooking for the most part but after a week or so, it got really old. I like to play the game of “if I open the fridge multiple times something new will appear” and like you all know you always lose. The other night one of our freshmen on the team came over and guested me and my roommate into the dining hall on campus. I quickly remembered why I gained the freshmen 15 last yr. I probably ate for about three people but I was a pretty happy camper when I left and that’s all that really matters.
Another obstacle I’ve had to encounter now that I’m off campus is finding the fastest, easiest, and because it rains 360 days of the year here, the driest way to get to school. I have four options. One, my car, but I refuse to give an arm and a leg for a parking pass so the closest place to park without getting a ticket is about 30 seconds from my house and is very impractical. At that point, I should walk, making this my second option. The problem is that when it is freezing cold, the last thing I want to be doing is taking a 20 minute stroll to class. My third option is biking which has seemed to be my best option. The only problem is that the route from my house to campus is uphill so by the time I get to class I’m sweating and it’s really just awkward for everyone. My last option is my Razor scooter. I’ve had this thing for, let’s say, ten years or so. People that scooter on campus are the people you look at and go “hahaha they’re scootering” but then instantly become jealous that you’re not scootering. But again, I have the sweating problem and it’s even worst on the scooter. It’s also been so long since I’ve scootered that my right leg is extremely out of pushing shape. I remember it being a lot easier when I was younger. And personally, I’m not trying to have one leg that’s bigger than the other. So basically when I wake up in the morning I have all these factors to consider just deciding how to get to school. God forbid I don’t know what I want for breakfast! To be sweaty or to not be sweaty, that is the question.
Softball has started up again. As hard as it is to balance school, friends, family, and a practice schedule, I love it. I love being on the field with 20 great girls and playing the game I love. I believe that softball also gives me a reason to look like I just crawled out of bed every day when I go to school even though society thinks otherwise. There’s a reason I am single and I know it but I refuse to put jeans on when I can barely lift my legs to get into them. It’s just not going to happen.
Campus is up and running with Fall Quarter started. Everyone is back in town and it’s nice to have all my friends here in Bellingham. The feeling of campus is something in its own. Everyone is working towards a common goal of obtaining a higher education, some faster than others, but still working towards it. We’re all strung out on coffee and energy drinks and will be paying off our student loans till we’re 50 but at this point in our lives we don’t care. I love it.
Our everyday lives are everything but everyday
